Here’s the transcript of the journal that I keep for my photography trips. I usually write at the end of each day on these trips. They usually wind up being a mix of photography & travel advice to myself for future trips.

Quick trip to Helen GA for Father’s day. Hooked up the camper the day before & rolled out before 10am! Crossed Mentone and wound through GA to Yonah Mountain campground.
Tiny spot to back into but we figured it out. Cozy campground with mature trees, pool, & rec area. Good for Lucy as well.
Loaded up and drove the few miles up to Helen Hit traffic a few miles out. Pretty terrible. Finally made it to Wendy’s for dinner. Made it through town and went to Unicoi State Park. Hiked down to Anna Ruby Falls. Really pretty place, but no good way to set up a tripod. Everything is covered with boardwalks & platforms.
Next we went to Duke’s Creek Falls. April turned her ankle pretty bad on the way down, so we bailed and went into Cleveland for medicine and ice.
Sunday – 6/16/2019 – Father’s Day
Went to Hofers for breakfast. Good food, but really crowded. Then we packed the cooler with lunch stuff and headed out.
First stop was Desoto Falls off of Highway 19/129 just south of Neal’s Gap. Hiked to the lower falls first, but there wasn’t much to shoot. Turned and went to the upper falls.
Pretty good trail with lots of places for Lucy to swim. Upper Falls was good with a platform to shoot from. Rhododendron beginning to bloom, but not close enough to the falls to matter. We’ll see what the film shows.
Left Desoto and crossed Neal’s Gap over to Vogel State Park. Real pretty lake and park. Hiked the trail around Lake Trahlyta to the spillway and falls. The falls weren’t much to look at – probably because of the boardwalk and platform in the way.
All of my photos of Trahlyta Falls were a bust. Mostly like the one above with blown out highlights. This is the best shot that I have of it. May need to go back sometime.
Ate lunch at a picnic table by the lake. Drove back around to hike Duke’s Creek Falls again. Left Lucy and April at the picnic area near the trailhead to read and watch for squirrels.
The falls are huge! The only problem (again!) is all of the stupid boardwalks. One area is falling apart and closed off. Got some shots of the section I could get to. Hiked back up (strenuous) and picked up April and Lucy.
Left Lucy in the camper and went tubing through Helen. Had a BLAST! Went back to get cleaned up and went to Paul’s Steak and Seafood. Pricey and not that good. Went to the Margarita Deck by the river and it was so bad that we left. Terrible drinks and you don’t need a DJ to relax by the river.

Took Lucy and went to Cimii’s for breakfast. Nice place on the patio. Then walked a bit so April to go to the chocolate store and the Christmas store.
Got the camper hooked up and headed back to Keel Mountain. Made it home without any problems. Stopped for a picnic lunch next to Cracker Barrel in Adairsville. About a 4 1/2 hour trip.
